Ep 12: What’s Happening?!
Hey HEY hey! What’s Happening?! This week we take on this classic ‘70s sitcom, and it’s an apt title because this episode does have some technical issues (Some delay-related f-ups…Slip may talk a lot but he’s not actually interrupting as much as it seems). But you should listen to it anyway because it may be one of the best episodes we’ve done, and where else are you going to hear about this too often overlooked show? So join us as we take a trip to Rob’s Place with Raj (or Rog?), Rerun, Dwayne, Dee, Shirley and the rest of the cast and, along the way, find out…
- How the show was a milestone in racial relations, communication, and understanding despite every other sentence being some kind of fat joke
- How much ridiculous effort went into "catch phrases" in the 1970's
- How meta this show was - it criticized things it was actually guilty of
- Why Jeff thinks that Roger is a “better” dancer than Re-run
- Why Slip changes his evaluation of the show not once but twice during the episode
- Why the Doobie Brothers episode is better than any episode of your favorite critically acclaimed TV show
- Who Al Dunbar is and why he’s one of the best TV sitcom villains of all time
- Why Michael McDonald is so freaking great
